About Us

History

ET/AL Magazine was founded by Matthew Honda, Gary Saito, and Annie Nguyen in Mid-May 2009 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The three students met while attending the Graphic Design program at the University of Hawaii. They immediately established a genuine friendship while discussing creative projects and sharing tracks of their favorite musicians. Upon graduation, while searching for creative projects and jobs, the idea of a publication focusing on art and design surfaced and ET/AL Magazine was established.

With a passion for all things creative, the threesome began to reach out to fellow art students, not limiting their circle to graphic artists. Glass blowers, illustrators, painters, sculptors, and musicians, all garnered their support for a locally based publication focused on various categories of creative outlet. For ET/AL and others, this is only the beginning. Stay tuned…

Mission Statement

ET/AL, the latin term for “and others”, is a magazine that will be at the forefront of Hawaii’s ever growing presence among the global community through our online website, printed publication, and artist forums. Furthermore, with our unique geographical location we can provide service that serves as a media link between the mainland U.S. and Asia. ET/AL magazine is a premiere media platform to promote and establish all aspiring artists around the globe.

We celebrate creative thought and encourage the pursuit of passion.
